In order to create opportunities for units to share knowledge, exchange opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation in research and training, on the morning of February 23, 2022, UEH School of Technology and Design (CTD) organized online professional seminar with the topic “Application of Mathematics – Statistics in research and training in the field of Economics and Technology”.<\/em><\/p>\n

The professional seminar “Application of Mathematics – Statistics in Research and Training in the field of Economics and Technology” is the beginning of a series of professional activities of CTD in 2022. This is an opportunity for lecturers and researchers. The expert presented the research and training orientations of the unit, thereby promoting interdisciplinary integration activities to optimize the resources of CTD in particular and UEH in general. The seminar received the attention and participation of CTD teachers and other member schools of UEH.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the seminar, Dr. Bui Quang Hung – Vice President of UEH – in charge of UEH School of Technology and Design shared: “The field of Mathematics – Statistics plays a very important and central role in the development of professional fields not only of CTD but also in other UEH industries, training programs and research products. In order to exploit and promote the available resources in CTD, we first need to change our thinking and perception towards cooperation and association in the implementation of training, research and consulting programs in the future. , not only in CTD but also in UEH. Secondly, it is necessary to actively cooperate and exchange with other units when participating in the development of training programs or research using professional knowledge related to that unit, especially knowledge of Mathematics. – Statistical”.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The seminar consists of two parts: the first part is sharing and contributions of the teachers on research, research orientation, and the need to apply Mathematics – Statistics in research and training; After listening to the sharing of teachers and teachers at the units, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Xuan Truong – Director of the Institute of Applied Mathematics made suggestions and introduced the applied Math – Statistics model in the research.<\/p>\n

In the first part, MSc. Le Van – NCS of the Institute of Smart and Interactive Technology shared the applications of the MGARCH Model in Financial Econometrics – diversification of investment portfolios, sustainable development goals and in the relationship between them. relationship between a person’s level of prosperity and happiness. For example, to evaluate a portfolio, it is necessary to look at the relationship between stocks and other financial assets, and the MGARCH model is a tool to help us determine that relationship. MSc. Le Van also raised the issue of discussion: “Why can we apply a purely financial model like the MGARCH model to so many fields?<\/em>“. The point of view is that, the MGARCH model is a research tool, and researchers need to know how to apply and stick to the research objectives to exploit this model for other fields.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

MSc. Le Van opened the discussion by sharing about the application of the MGARCH model in the field of economics and finance.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dr. Dang Ngoc Hoang Thanh – Lecturer of the Faculty of Information Technology also shared some research orientations in the field of technology with the application of Mathematics – Statistics. The researches are divided into 3 areas: \u00a0Technology and communication orientation\u00a0 (image processing, computer graphics, design, application in AR, VR, image recognition…); Mathematical models based on differential equations (applications in finance); Machine learning and deep learning, artificial intelligence\u00a0 (methods to solve problems related to regression, classification, clustering… or problems related to natural language processing).<\/p>\n

With experience in research, teaching and practical work in enterprises, Dr. Le Thanh Nam – Institute of Smart Cities and Management said that Mathematical models are also applied a lot in the field of engineering. Therefore, when conducting research, it is necessary to attend professional seminars on Mathematics – Statistics to take advantage of opinions and sharing from Math experts.
